Genetic Technologies, Inc. remains on the cutting edge of Forensic DNA Analysis. Nearly 20 years ago GTI open their new facility with cutting edge technologies. Genetic Technologies was one of the first labs in the nation to implement Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) coupled with Short Tandem Repeats (STR) and Capillary Electrophoresis(CE). These technologies now serve as the Gold Standard in the forensic DNA Industry.
Kent M. Harman, President and CEO of Genetic Technologies recently addressed a group of criminalists as the keynote speaker sharing his vision of what it will require to remain relevant in forensic DNA testing. He notes that little has changed in the base technologies such as PCR, STR, and CE…however the type of samples the lab is asked to analyze has changed significantly. “…and we must meet this challenge square on”, he states.
One type of challenging sample is the “Touch” DNA specimen. GTI has invested heavily in advancing their capabilities to meet this challenge allowing them the ability to extract DNA profiles from evidence that many facilities are unable to resolve. With the recent implementation of cutting edge robotics and optimized DNA extraction chemistries GTI has maintained its reputation as a leader in this industry.
Harman praises his staff of veteran Forensic DNA Analysts in their ability to process complex trace evidence, then leverage unsurpassed technologies to resolve challenging casework.
